Stephen Powell
Biography
Stephen Powell is a researcher at Ultralab, and developer of formal and non-formal online learning communities. He has worked extensively on ground-breaking initiatives working with school leaders for the Department for Education and Skills, and the National College for School Leadership. A feature of this work has been the large-scale nature of the projects and their focus of professional learning. This work has also involved developing a Community of Practice for researchers and facilitators who work remotely across the UK in a project focussed team supporting the school leader's communities, and it is this work that informs the basis of this chapter.
