John D. Smith received a B.A. from St. John's College and an M.Arch. from the University of New Mexico. He was a planner, administrator and technologist at the University of Colorado for many years. He has been organizing and supporting Communities of Practice informally for his entire professional life and formally since 1997. He has been instrumental in the development and organization of the Foundations of Community of Practice workshop and in CPsquare.
